Anno 1829
The Bassi house was completed in 1829 to the designs of architect Charles Bassi — just two years after the Great Fire of Turku, as the city rebuilt itself along the banks of the River Aura. For centuries the house has carried merchants, homes and encounters.
On 30 October 2020, Restaurant OOBU opened on the house’s second and third floors. The old beams, thick walls and tall windows were given a new task: to frame the flavours of the archipelago.
The Great Fire of Turku destroys much of the city — rebuilding begins.
The Bassi house is completed on Läntinen Rantakatu to Charles Bassi’s drawings.
Restaurant OOBU opens its doors on floors 2–3 on 30 October.
